Seaholm Plaza is the newest gallery for Austin's Art in Public Places program.

...Described as a responsive art installation, one of the instillation's creators said it was inspired by Texas' wildflowers and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. "If you come here at night, you'll be able to see the wall, all these cables will be fully illuminated and animated and moving. and as people walk past these sensors, these crazy patterns and things happen," said Rick Lin of Urban Matter, Inc.

Those who attended the dedication got to take home wildflower seeds and Alice in Wonderland activity books.

On Friday, April 22, 2016, the public is invited to discover the newest addition to the City of Austin’s public art collection with a slightly mad Tea Party, hosted by Austin Art in Public Places! , Golden Afternoon, a responsive art installation, was recently installed in the Seaholm neighborhood.

Inspired by Texas wildflowers and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Golden Afternoon is a responsive public art installation in the parking structure of the Seaholm Redevelopment Project. The installation mimics a hanging garden that has overgrown from the flower beds on the ground level, down the open stairwell, and making its way into the parking lot. Reminiscent of a trip down the rabbit hole from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the artwork experience is heightened by lighting which responds to people moving up and down the stairs.
